I live in a nice rural town in Victoria, Australia and it's interesting to observe all the human elements that you would see in "Anytown", Anywhere.
Yesterday I sat in on a computer lesson and ended up learning a good lesson myself. I had been there to help someone who had asked me to, because she felt there were a lot of computer terms that she didn't understand. What I learned was that she was better informed than I'd expected, and that my being there was terribly boring for me and not particularly helpful for her. Not only that, but just being there was a bit of a "Bypass" of the actual teacher - and I didn't like being in that position. Why? Because I sure as hell do not want to end up teaching his class.
Some time ago I learned that if you really want to understand something well, you don't go past any "mis-understood" anythings; words, concepts, etc. And with 14 people in the class - with almost everyone needing something explained - it was a whole lot like herding cats. I felt sorry for the teacher.
Well, that was yesterday's experience.
Today I've been busy studying at home, and now I'm going to sit and paint for a couple of hours.
